English singer and songwriter Jessie J has revealed to fans that she has been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer.

The heartfelt announcement came via a sincere and low-pressure video shared on her Instagram page, just ahead of her scheduled performance at Capital’s Summertime Ball on June 15.

The Bang Bang hitmaker, known for her powerful vocals and resilient spirit, shared that she received the diagnosis two months ago, shortly before releasing her single No Secrets. Despite the life-altering news, Jessie remains focused on the silver lining of the early detection.

“Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding onto the word ‘early,’” she said with calm determination.

In a moment of humour and grace, she reflected on the timing of her diagnosis. “To get diagnosed with this as I’m putting out a song called Living My Best Life, which was all pre-planned before I found out about this… I mean, you can’t make it up,” she said, smiling. “It’s a very dramatic way to get a boob job,” she joked, adding that after her performance at the Summertime Ball, she will be stepping away temporarily for surgery. “I’ll come back with massive tits and more music.”

Throughout the video, Jessie opened up about the emotional rollercoaster of the past nine weeks, a period filled with medical tests, emotional processing, and professional responsibilities.

“I’m not processing it because I’m working so hard,” she admitted. “I just wanted to be open and share it, because selfishly, I don’t talk about it enough. I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with people giving me their love and support, and sharing their own stories.”

Her vulnerability underscores a deep desire to connect with others facing similar challenges, using her platform not only for awareness but also for empathy and solidarity.

This diagnosis is the latest in a series of health battles Jessie has faced over the years, including Ménière's disease, a heart condition, a minor stroke at 18, and a miscarriage in 2021 before welcoming her son, Sky Safir Cornish Colman.

Reflecting on the broader impact of her experience, she shared, “It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much similar and worse,” acknowledging the shared struggles faced by many in the cancer community.

Jessie J’s openness and courage in sharing her journey have sparked an outpouring of support from fans and fellow artists alike, while also raising awareness about the importance of early detection and emotional resilience.
