#FashionTips: How to turn your OOTD to OOTN

Have you ever found yourself in a position where you have to go to work but still have to meet the girls later for some drinks, or maybe go on a date? Well, with the hustle and bustle of working in the city, this is probably the norm.

It is important to learn the art of dressing in outfits that can pass for an office look and later transform into a night outfit. If you do not know how to go about this, buckle up. Here are tips to help you transform your outfit of the day (OOTD) to your outfit of the night (OOTN):

Always carry an extra pair of shoes

When planning to go out later in the evening or your friends ambush you at work for a girls night out, always be prepared. The easiest and fastest way of transforming a basic outfit into classy is very dependent on your choice of shoes.

When you are in the office and you need to move around quickly, you can put on chunky heels or doll shoes but for later you can pull your gladiator heels or knee length boots and transform your look.

Wear a blazer

A blazer is obviously official and will pass the office test but when going out at night with friends you can lose it easily quickly and easily and fit in. A blazer will hide your extra revealing dress or chiffon blouse that is not office appropriate.

Other than covering up your light clothing, a blazer will also keep you warm while you remain stylish. A trench coat or jacket it too official and heavy for a night out. And transforming the look is almost impossible.

Be accessory ready

When you’re in the office you are expected to tone down on your jewelry to fit in and work faster, but when you need to transform your look for a night out you will need all the accessories you can find.

For instance, during the day you can put on a basic skirt and blouse tucked in but for the night you can untuck your blouse and add a belt to it while revealing a little skin around the waist area. While at it you could add some dangling earrings to complete the look.

Always put on black

When in doubt always put on black.  Whether it is your little black dress, a black jumpsuit, a black suit trouser or a black skirt outfit, you will never go wrong in black. Black is easy to accessorize and it is easy to blend in with the crowd at night.

Furthermore, a black outfit can manage to stay clean and fresh all day without look creased or dirty from all the activity during the day. You can never go wrong when doing a black outfit.

A makeup kit is your best friend

When all is lost and you have no escape route to transforming your look, makeup is your saviour. Always have a small makeup kit bag you can access from the office. This way you can apply some red lipstick or retouch your look before meeting up.

Not only is makeup important to enhance your look but you can always carry some perfume or deodorant so that you not only look fresh but you can smell as nice too.

Tip: It wouldn’t hurt to just carry an extra dress for later, no one would know and even if they did they wouldn’t crucify you for it.
