Couple say yes to everything their kids ask for and people are praising them

A couple has been praised by parents for agreeing to have a 'Yes Day' with their kids.

Throughout the Coronavirus lockdown, the mum admitted that her children had to be told no so many times - no to seeing friends, no to seeing family, no to going to soft play.

"It was about time we could say yes to them," she said.

The bold move was inspired by the film 'Yes Day' on Netflix, where the parents, played by Jennifer Garner and Edgar Ramírez, said yes to the children for an entire day.

The day started with the couple's children doing their makeup and picking their - very questionable - clothes.

A pit stop at the petrol station and a McDonald's breakfast later and the day was well underway.

She said: "Then they chose daddy and mummy to make fools out of themselves in a car park, YES.

"We had to for a car wash but Tesco’s was shut so had to make do with a hand car wash with 4-5 blokes cleaning our car windows staring and pointing at us sat in the car, YES.

"Then we stopped in the park where all respected parents kept their kids away from the two strange people running around, finished off by 1M rounds on the trampoline."

She said she recommends everyone hold a 'Yes Day' for their children - "you won't regret it."

The mum continued: "If you’re thinking about it just do it! Don’t think! Let them do all the thinking and just go with it! You won’t regret it .... too much.

"YES day was challenging yet freeing!! I highly recommend."

But before handing over the reins she laid down the law.

She said: "Just to let you know we set some ground rules:

"1) Nothing dangerous-we wanted to survive the day

"2) Any destruction could only last a day hence the windows being firmly up during the car wash

"3) The budget was negotiable. I think we spent around £20

"4) Have fun!!"

The mum shared the idea in the Family Lockdown Tips & Ideas group on Facebook, where it has racked up more than 6,600 likes and 1,000 comments from stunned parents.

Whilst some praised them for the "brilliant" idea, others said they wish they could be brave enough to try it for themselves.

One person said: "What amazing parents you are and amazing memories for your children.

"You're braver than me haha.

"The closest I'll say yes to my children is an extra bar of chocolate."

Another added: "We had a yes day yesterday too! Ours wanted to go to Paulton's park and of course, we couldn’t say no. So off we went to see Peppa Pig!! The kids loved it and loved that we couldn’t say no! I loved giving them a sense of control."
