Kenya’s Elsa Majimbo nominated for the E! People’s Choice Award

Elsa States Majimbo has done it again! Just recently the internet sensation and influencer bagged a deal with Rihanna’s brand Fenty to showcase their sunglasses and now she is nominated for the famous E! People’s Choice Award in the category African Social Star.

The 19-year-old, known for her relatable satirical monologues while she eats her potato crisps, has had her videos go viral during the COVID-19 pandemic and she has proven a real source of entertainment on social media.

She could not hide her excitement as she thanked her fans on social media and urged them to vote for her:

The E! People’s Choice Award is a showcase of American awards, recognizing people in entertainment, voted online by the general public and fans. 

For the second time in the history of the ceremony, the E! People's Choice Awards has once again opened a category dedicated to Africa: African Social Star of 2020 – with eight contenders in the running.

Other popular names on the list of nominees include: From South Africa, social media star and model Karl Kugelmann; rapper, actress and poet Sho Madjozi; International Emmy Award nominee and actress Thuso Mbedu; magician and TikTok star Wian van den Berg and reigning Miss Universe Zozi Tunzi. Nigerian YouTube phenomenon Dimma Umeh and African Movie Academy Award winning actress Lydia Forson from Ghana.

Last year, Bonang Mathebe from South Africa scooped the coveted title of African Influencer of 2019.
