Meghan Markle 'in talks with Vogue to have regular column in UK and US editions'

Meghan Markle is in talks with Vogue to have a regular column in both the US and UK editions, it has been claimed.

The 37-year-old is said to be having discussions with Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue since 1988, about the unprecedented move.

It is claimed that the column would focus on her charity work.

Last month it was reported that the Duchess of Sussex had turned down the offer of appearing on the cover of the September edition of the fashion magazine.

The mum-of-one will still feature as part of a spread focusing on women's empowerment.

The Daily Mail claims that sources told them: "The spread in Vogue won't be a superficial photoshoot – on the contrary, she wants to use it as a platform to make a difference.

"She is working with Vogue as a contributing editor on a few fabulous stories about the causes that are near and dear to her and it may eventually become a regular column.

"Anna Wintour is also part of the talks and is in discussion about running some or all of the stories in US Vogue."

Buckingham Palace, who declined to comment to the Daily Mail, have been approached by Mirror Online this evening.

Buckingham Palace, who declined to comment to the Daily Mail, have been approached by Mirror Online this evening.

And photographer Annie Leibovitz is in talks to shoot the initial piece, which insiders said would see the Duchess pose in outfits created by emerging designers whose backstories will be linked to her favorite causes.

Kate Middleton appeared on the front cover of Vogue in June 2016 with Princess Diana featuring on covers three times.

No serving British royal has ever appeared in US Vogue - although Princess Diana did make the cover following her divorce from Prince Charles and the removal of her HRH status in 1997.

Meghan was accused of giving American press preferential treatment in the wake of son Archie's arrival.
