You can now name a cockroach after your ex for Valentine's Day

Cockroaches universally inspire repulsion and hatred. They're gross to look at, and almost impossible to get rid of.

And if you've ever thought your ex is more cockroach than human, there's now the perfect way to commemorate the relationship.

Just in time for Valentine's Day, you can name one after an ex-partner - it’s ideal for those still feeling bitter after a breakup.

Hemsley Conservation Centre is giving people the opportunity to pick and name a creepy crawly after whomever they deem appropriate - and it costs just £1.50.

The name will be displayed at the exhibit, so you can always visit the insect-version of your ex to say hi.

If you take part, you'll also be sent a gift certificate as a keepsake - but the name won't feature on it as the conservation centre doesn't want to "fuel fires".

However, you can add their name in the comments section on the certificate as a helpful reminder of why breaking up was really a good thing.

You can also name a cockroach on behalf of a mate, which could be the perfect way to cheer them up if they've just had a messy split from someone.

Hemsley Conservation Centre said: "For those that don't quite require revenge, there’s another way to make you feel better about getting back at your ex this Valentine’s Day.

"The HCC is offering the chance to name a cockroach in honor of your friend's worthless ex-"someone" on this special holiday of love.

"We are highlighting these creatures through our 'name a cockroach programme' (we think adopt is a little too strong, after all - you probably don't want to adopt your friend's ex) to raise money for our projects at the zoo."
