Living

Kenyan TV is known to be graced by beauties of all manners and levels of intelligent. There has always been a battle especially on social media platforms where Kenyans vouch for their favourite channel for Prime News based on the face of the anchor. Both male and female followers often have something to say about this popular beauties and follow their lives closely and fanatically.

Many of the anchors know this and often let a part of their lives open for their followers to have a sneak peek while others are uptight with little known about their lives beyond news. At times however, these anchors’ lives are bared out for us to see and in some of these times, the ugly side is exposed. There have been a number of such exposed scenes in the love lives of anchors that Kenyans may never forget like;

Jacque Maribe

For the past two weeks, Kenyans have been following one of their favourite news anchors Jacque Maribe but not as their news presenter but as the news itself. This is since the TV beauty’s name was dragged into a murder investigation where her fiancé Joseph Kuria Irungu, popularly known as Jowie, was arrested. Jowie was arrested in connection with the murder of Ms. Monica Kimani in Kilimani. Ms. Monica’s body was discovered by her brother in her bathtub with her hands tied and her throat slit.

Jowie, who is the prime suspect in the case proposed to Jacque on 30th June, a milestone her followers celebrated. The late Monica is Jowie’s one-time college mate at the Technical University of Kenya in 2012.

Jacque is now in custody following her arrest in connection to what police call links to Monica’s death that were found in her house and might remain there for a couple of days.

Esther Arunga

The intelligent and beautiful lady stole the hearts of many Kenyans with her eloquent soft-spoken persona and comely image that made it calming to watch news. In 2010, she left her followers shocked when she decided to unceremoniously quit her job at KTN before calling off her planned wedding.

The train of events that followed saw her join the Finger of God church, get married to a man with shifty credentials and lived a life so twisted, eventually leaving the country for Australia with Quincy, the man she had hurriedly met and married.

Most of Arunga’s viewers could not believe as they saw her life became the quiver for all types of questions surrounding her credibility; from drugging allegations, government involvement, secret societies, sex and church scandals and law suits.

The last time we heard from her, the once popular beauty lost a child in mysterious circumstances forcing the Australian authorities to question her husband Quincy.

Lillian Muli

In September 2009, celebrated media queen Lillian Muli awed her many followers when she said ‘I do’ to Moses Kanene in a pink and white themed wedding affair at the Windsor Golf Club.

The wedding was highlighted by a white vintage bridal car that was followed by a convoy comprising six E-class Mercedes Benz cars to the Windsor Golf and Country Club in Ridgeways.

Six years on and she shocked her fans as she filed for divorce at the Chief Magistrate’s Court at Milimani in Nairobi, on January 7, 2016.

The beautiful Prime Time anchor claimed that her husband of several years was adulterous, violent and quick to temper. She added that her husband’s nature had led her to leave her matrimonial home, carrying their son with her.

 Doreen Gatwiri

In February this year, Kenyans were treated to behind the scenes of yet another TV beauty, former Ebru Tv anchor Doreen Gatwiri, when she took to social media platforms Facebook and Twitter notifying her followers that she was suffering from domestic violence.

The beauty claimed that her husband Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi had threatened and assaulted her severally. She added that she reported previous incidents to police and sought medical attention from hospitals away from home for fear he would follow her. At the time of the allegations, Doreen had sought refuge at a friend’s place in Kileleshwa. The husband in question, Mr. Mulyungi, is a wealthy architect and MP who won the Mwingi Parliementary seat by defeating Jubilee strong man in Kitui County Joe Mutambu.

According to the former Swahili news anchor, the MP had also assaulted their house girl and chef in different incidents at their Karen home.

Betty Kyalo

The gorgeous former KTN anchor treated her fans by wedding another Prime Time anchor Denis Okari in a glorious event in late 2015. The colourful event that took place at Marula Manor crowned their six-year-long courtship.

Their fans were thrilled as photos of their wedding and their month long honeymoon were exchanged in all social platforms. They visited many amazing destinations where fans enthusiatically followed with likes and shares.

The marriage was cut short when Betty was spotted without the expensive ring she had been doned and started going out with Mombasa County Governor Hassan Joho. Amidst rumours that Dennis was cheating, the short-lived happy relationship left many fans baffled.

Betty has long since stopped seeing the governor.
