5 tips to attending campus parties that could save your life

Living

A lot that has been said about campus, both positive and negative, but it will always remain home for the good brains. The campus has a lot of festivities taking place weekend after weekend. In fact, one thing that a student should never miss out of during their campus life is the college parties. College parties range from freshman bashes, game after parties, to school awards (Mr. and Miss University) and the likes.  When attending these parties there is a lot that one needs to know to avoid making unplanned life mistakes.

Here are five do’s and don’ts when attending campus parties:

Don’t leave your drink unattended- There is nothing horrifying like waking up nude in a room full of strangers and not remembering a thing. You might be drugged or poisoned if you leave your drink unattended.  Ladies have been sexually abused without their consent and the consequences that come later are sad. If you really have to go to the washroom, try and finish your drink first or leave it in the hands of your trusted friends. Know your limits and boundaries- If you cannot drink more than two glasses, stick to what you can manage. Consuming more than you can handle can cause vomiting or worse yet, extreme alcohol poisoning. Then there is the loss of self-control. Don’t be that girl that will be carried home by a stranger or is throwing up everywhere. Bring alcohol to some parties- There are some college parties where they don’t offer enough drinks or maybe your favorite drink is not there. Buy affordable drinks but first, make an attempt to observe what is been provided at the party.  Remember to always carry water because you need to stay hydrated. Don’t feel obligated to do anything you don’t want to- This common phrase “You only live once” is used often among the college students and influences the decisions they make when in a party. If you feel uncomfortable at a party, it’s okay to leave. Sometimes being the odd-one-out is all it takes to save you from unwanted life mistakes. On-Campus of Off-campus? Both choices have their pros and cons. On one hand, Off-Campus parties give a whole new experience with different people without the time or noise restrictions. On-campus parties, on the other hand, provide some sense of security.

All in all, parties are for fun, but remember to be careful.
