Why dating a man who does not drive is a turn off

Girl Talk

When it comes to scouting potential romantic partners, I have to admit that I don't care much for men without cars. I know it sounds downright materialistic and superficial, but it is my conviction that car ownership should be in the list of relationship deal breakers for all women, regardless of whether they themselves drive or not.

I'm an old fashioned girl who likes to be picked up and driven to a date, rather than catching a cab or worse, using public transportation! Catching a bus with your beau to a date is cute when you are a teenager, but as you grow older, you are expected to have standards and self-respect and dating a carless man doesn't reflect that at all. No car, no love! Period! Painful but very true.

If you are a man and you are well past your teens and still do not have wheels, you don't deserve a woman, or sex for that matter. In fact, you should give up dating altogether, until you get your $#!£ together and buy a car. Gentlemen, having a reliable means of transportation should be the first order of business after clearing college. Didn't your mother tell you women love convenience?

There is nothing that irks my nerves more than a man on a bus trying to hit on me. Are you kidding me? I'm sorry if I sound a little brash, but when I see a man taking the bus I don't automatically assume that he is on the bus because he is slowly but surely working his way up to CEO or saving for school or whatever. To me, he is an irresponsible bum who does not know how to work hard and smart because if he did, he would not be taking the damn bus.

It all goes back to nature. Women are instinctively attracted to men who can provide and having a car communicates that you have got your finances handled and can take care of woman.

At this day and age, a car is a necessity. It all comes down to practicality and safety. I hardly see myself calling out for a taxi at a dark street corner in my risqué little black dress and five inch heels at 2 in the morning all because I settled for a man who doesn't drive. Also, don't expect me to come dressed to the nines if I am taking public transportation. Public transport just doesn't encourage sexy dressing, you know.

If you are a lady who has her own ride, you have all the more reason to date a man who has his own ride too. You date up, not down. If you date a carless man, it means you have to spend your dates playing chauffeur to a grown ass man, and that is just unacceptable. It doesn't matter if he offers to pay for fuel or anything during dates. It is his responsibility to drive you to the date and back home —get this— in his car.

I am all for chemistry, good looks, personality and potential in a man, but unfortunately your potential isn't going to get me from point A to pint B. Ladies, ditch the lazy bum and get yourself a sophisticated gentleman who has his priorities in order. Go for the classy men in classy cars and don't settle for anything less.
