How to let a woman know about your feelings

There is this girl I have feelings for. We have been friends since childhood and we practically grew up together. I want her to be more than a friend, but we have been friends for so long that I don’t even know how to bring up the subject. I am afraid of complicating our friendship if she doesn’t feel the same way. Should I tell her how I feel about her? Andy.

Dear Andy,

I understand how nerve-racking it can be when you start falling in love with a friend. You want to determine if the feelings are mutual without putting your friendship on the line.

You can help her see you as more than a friend by starting some subtle flirting and seeing how she responds.

If she flirts back, she could be open to the possibility of a romance. Ultimately, you will have to tell her how you feel, but before taking the plunge, you need to determine that you are indeed falling in love with her and that what you are feeling is not just a passing crush.

Give it some time and if the feelings are still there after a few weeks, you can take the next step of telling her how you feel.

Find some time when you are alone and tell her how you feel. Remember, if she doesn’t feel the same way, you might not be able to go back to being friends immediately as things might be a little awkward between you.

Feel free to take some time off from the friendship to get over the hurt.

All the best!
