EAC peace is under threat

Living

Kenya should by now realise that her relationship with her neighbours is on the verge of collapsing.

We have witnessed retaliatory actions against each other by EAC member countries. For instance, Kenya barring Tanzanian taxis into JKIA following the same move by Tanzanian Port authorities.

On the other end, Uganda dispatched Ugandan soldiers into Migingo Island who, on several occasions have humiliated and intimidated Kenyan citizens.

Furthermore, Kenyan citizens at the borders of Kenya and Tanzania have always cried out for mistreatment by Tanzanian boundary officials.

What more is the government waiting for after its officials, Energy CS Charles Keter and his colleagues from Kenya were welcomed with hostility at Tanga amid pipeline construction talks.

I don't see the point of having a government which can't stand up for its subjects during perilous times.

The action of Energy CS Mr. Keter and his Ugandan counterpart to downplay the situation is by far incredible and irresponsible.

These little issues are threats not only to peace but also to our international development. I don't believe Kenya can solely exist without EAC integration.

Therefore this is a request to Kenyan diplomatic organizations to realize their primary responsibility of maintaining healthy relationships with other nations.
