Easy ways to get your skincare routine started

Your face is probably one of the most conspicuous parts of your body and you wouldn’t want to ruin it with products you don’t know.

It’s never easy getting a skincare routine that can work for you every day, not to mention all the products you will need to get you started.

Nowadays, most ladies depend on blogs and content reviews on social media to help them get started on skincare. However, it is important for you to know that skin types are different and what may work for another may not necessarily work for you.

Before getting started on this journey, ensure you first understand your skin type, allergies and what you can afford.

Here are some easy ways you can get your skincare routine started on a budget:

  • Understand your skin type

Before starting on a skincare routine or buying any recommended products, ensure you understand your skin and what you want urgently addressed.

Is your skin sensitive, oily, dry or combination skin? All these will require a different regimen.

You can always see a dermatologist for further guidance to help you understand your skin better.

  • Learn the basics

Skincare may seem like rocket science with all the layering of products you will need to master but in real sense, you only need three basic steps: Cleansing, moisturizing and sunscreen.

Always remember to cleanse your skin every morning and night and follow it up with moisturizer. Use sunscreen only in the morning when you have to leave the house.

  • What can you afford?

The best skincare products are not cheap and it wouldn’t be advisable to use unknown products on your skin.

If you can’t afford legit products, do not apply the counterfeit ones on your skin, they will only irritate your skin and cause damage.

Always consult with a beautician or dermatologist on the best products you can use on your skin type and also inquire on cheaper genuine alternatives that won’t react with your skin.

  • Change your lifestyle

What you eat and whether you work out or not directly impacts on your skin. You are likely to suffer from breakouts when you take a lot of salty and oily foods every day, to help your skin heal, add more vegetables and fruits to your diet.

Also, remember to exercise and drink lots of water to help your body flush out stored toxins.

  • Stick to your routine

If a simple wash and some moisturizer is all your skin needs, stick to that, do not be tempted into trying new products in the market or something your friends recommended.

Not unless your daily routine is not having any effect on your skin, always consult before indulging with other products and check on their compositions.

Tip: Be patient and consistent, all good things take time and your skin will need time to adjust and heal before it can glow and look healthy again.
