Drake has sent social media into meltdown after he mentioned Maya Jama's name in the first line of his new tune. The iconic Canadian star, 33, joined forces with London rapper Headie One to release a track called 'Only You Freestyle' on July 20. In the opening lines of the track, Drake wasted no time in dropping the name of the 25-year-old television presenter. Fans have been quick to notice the mention and took to social media to speculate about how pal Stormzy would react.
In the tune, Drake raps: "Chubbs might jam this yute for a chain, and gave it to a sweet one, called that Maya Jama."
Twitter has since gone into meltdown over the reference.
"No way has drake just mentioned Maya Jama, go to bed Stormzy," wrote one fan.
"Drake called Maya Jama a sweet one, I wonder how Stormzy’s doing at these hard times fr," added another.
"Maya Jama has now officially made it in life getting name dropped by Drake," wrote another.
Reflecting on her former relationship, the bombshell recently told the TTYA Talks podcast, “I’m one of those hard, nutty people- I’ve been through worse.”
According to reports, both Maya and Stormzy have so far remained single since their split last year. Despite recently reflecting on her breakup, the former Radio 1 star also appeared to be on cloud nine today as she jetted out to Ibiza in a private jet with her pals. In the past, Stormzy has praised Drake for his contribution to the music industry.
In an interview with Charlamagne tha God, Stormzy said: "I think it helps because, Drake is undeniably a f****** massive, gargantuan artist, and an incredible artist as well.”
Since Drake dropped the new tune, social media has been flooded with memes and clips that feature Stormzy as fans speculate about his reaction to the line about his ex-girlfriend.
