Saturnino de la Fuente Garcia, who was confirmed as the oldest man living in September 2021, has died at the age of 112 years and 341 days.

According to Guinness World Records, Saturnino died at his home in Leon, a city in northwest Spain.

Born on February 11, 1909, El Pepino, as he was popularly referred to, got married to the love of his life Antonina Barrio in 1933 and had seven daughters.

Thanks to his diminutive figure (4.92 ft), Saturnino avoided being enlisted into the 1936 Spanish Civil War and instead made a name for himself as a shoemaker.

He also loved football and apart from playing for a local team in his town, he helped in founding the Puente Castro’s team.

He leaves behind seven daughters, 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

The oldest person living (female) is Kane Tanaka aged 119 years and 16 days, in Fukuoka, Japan.
