The Duke of Edinburgh is said to have been upset Meghan Markle failed to support Prince Harry in his royal duties, an expert has claimed. Royal biographer Ingrid Seward claims 99-year-old Prince Philip was "very, very disappointed" in the former actress for her "failure to support the monarchy".
She told Sky News that Philip was "irritated" when Meghan didn't give up her career to support her royal spouse, as he gave up his naval life to be by the Queen's side.On the live TV program Ms Seward said: "I think he's very, very disappointed because I think he feels he gave up his naval career in order to stand by the Queen and help the monarchy.
"And why can't Meghan just give up her acting career, support her husband and support the monarchy? "As he used to say to Diana, this is not a popularity contest, this is all of us working together.
'He just cannot understand why she couldn't support Harry and help him rather than wanting to have her voice."
Ms Seward added that the Duke was not involved in discussions the Queen held with Harry and Prince Charles about the newly married couple cutting ties with the royal family. She said: "Of course, it irritates him hugely.
"And when they had the Sandringham Summit, Prince Philip was seen leaving the house very swiftly before they all arrived." Meghan yesterday appeared virtually at the Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit and claimed she was misunderstood.
The Duchess of Sussex hit back at critics who take offence at her speaking out. Just last week she came under fire for urging people to vote in the upcoming US election, but she said she's done nothing wrong.
