Kris Jenner pulled the plug on Keeping Up With The Kardashians out of terror Kanye West's controversial rants would damage their brand beyond repair, it's been reported. Kim Kardashian announced on Tuesday that the final and 20th season of the show will air early next year as they leave the show that made them famous behind.
The news came as Kim's husband Kanye is running for US president, and has recently made comments that have embarrassed the family, including announcing he and Kim nearly aborted their daughter North. He has also openly talked about his marriage woes with Kim and compared Kris to North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un.
Sources have now said the Kardashian matriarch feared Kanye, who has bipolar disorder, was becoming "uncontrollable" and a "loose cannon". They told The Sun Kris knew she "needed to pull the plug before he does irreversible damage to her brand." The source added that Kanye "tried to constantly fight with Kris over production and the direction that the show is going."
A source close to the family denied this was the case. Kris, who conceived the idea for the show and manages all her famous daughters, "was not about to let anybody take the reins on her show," said the source. Kanye was experiencing a bipolar episode, according to Kim, when he announced that he had been trying to divorce her for the past two years. He also said he wanted Kris to stay away from his children before comparing her to North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un.
It had been reported that viewing figures were at an all-time low for the series, with many people citing that the family's trials and tribulations are played out on social media many months before they are seen on screen in the reality show. Fans also believe Kanye was to blame, with one tweeting: "I knew KUWTK was coming to an end the minute Kanye had his breakdown on Twitter.
"The Kris slander probably was a bit too much for them. #KeepingUpWithTheKardashians"
Another added: "Kanye loses his mind and ruins it for everyone. #KUWTK"
