Governor Cornel Rasanga claims his life is in danger after his bodyguards were withdrawn.

His two bodyguards were summoned to Nairobi on Friday.

Speaking to the Press in Siaya town, the governor alleged a hit squad had been sent to Siaya to kill him and said the Government should be held responsible if anything happens to him.

He, however, did not say who had sent the hit squad or why they wanted him dead.

Mr Rasanga blamed Police spokesman Charles Owino for the withdrawal of his security.

He said Mr Owino had insinuated he incited the public to stage demonstrations against the Independent Electoral and boundaries Commission in Siaya last Monday.

"It is unfortunate I have not received any official communication as to why my security was withdrawn," he said.

Rasanga, his deputy Wilson Ouma and Assembly Speaker George Okode led an anti-IEBC demonstration in Siaya town that left two people dead and 15 others with gunshot wounds.
