The former Spain and Barcelona midfielder hit out at Ronaldo last month, claiming he was jealous of Lionel Messi.

Ronaldo hit back insisting he wasn't interested in what Xavi had to say, also pointing at his Ballon d'Or record.

But Xavi, who now plies his trade in Qatar, insists he stands by his previous judgement.

"I saw that he didn't take it well, but I still think the same thing," the Spaniard told reporters of Spanish TV station La Sexta.

"He told me about his Ballon d'Or tally, which is true but my opinion doesn't change."

Xavi did go on to tip Ronaldo for this year's prestigious prize after helping Real Madrid win the Champions League and guiding Portugal to Euro 2016 glory.

"Cristiano has the numbers to win this year's Ballon d'Or, having won the Champions League and the Euros

"But I also think that it'll be very competitive, because Messi will be there, of course."
