There claims that those who plotted his killing feared that should the newly elected Embakasi MP exert his authority, supporters would invade private and idle land in the then expansive constituency.

Before being elected as MP in December 2007 on an ODM ticket, he was the councilor for Dandora Ward where he was raised during his early childhood. He was killed outside his house in the Nairobi suburb of Woodley, adjacent to Kibera slum.
