ICC: Second witness resumes testimony in Ruto case

NAIROBI, KENYA: The second witness in Ruto case resumed testimony Tuesday morning shading light on the operation of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

During the morning session he gave account of the management of ODM party naming various  coordinators in key target provinces for the ODM party ahead of the 2007 general election

“In Coast province Key pentagon leader was Najib Balala and Mutana Lewa as the coordinator, Central Province Mubi Ng’aru as coordinator and some people on the ground helping her, Upper Eastern was being coordinated by Joseph Nyagah and key leadrs on the ground,” says Witness 326.

“There was also the Eastern which was being coordinated by Charity Ngilu assisted by other coordinators on the ground, Rift Valley Province had ODM Pentagon leader William Ruto as key ODM person, there was North Rift and South Rift in Rift Valley,” he says.

According to the witness, Rift Valley region was divided into North Rift and South Rift with Josephine Kuluo coordinating North Rift while Ole Koitamet was in charge of South Rift.

The coordinators in the Rift Valley played the role of overseeing nomination process of the party, they were also working on campaign materials to be distributed within the area, and also help in dispute resolution in the nomination process.

Returning officers on the ground could also report to the coordinators on the nomination process, and help in preparation of rallies,

Witness.  Yes, they reported to William Ruto and Richard Kwach

Q. How did the coordinators get appointed

Witness: They were introduced and appointed by key pentagon members in-charge of their provinces.

Question: Who appointed South and North Rift Coordinators

Witness: It was ODM key Pentagon Member representing R  Valley and that is Mr Ruto
