Nairobi, Kenya: The High Court has suspended the action by MPs on Tuesday to quash legal notices stipulating lower salaries set by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.

High Court Judge David Majanja also ordered that MPs be paid Sh532,000 monthly salary in accordance with what was set by the Sarah Serem-led SRC until the case is determined.

Lawyer Nzamba Kitonga is representing the Law Society of Kenya that moved to court to challenge the MPs bid for higher salaries.

The High Court suspended the action by MPs to revoke the four gazette notices setting out benefits of senior State Officials. MPs had hoped the action would ensure they are paid Sh850000 on the strength of the National Assembly and Remuneration Act.

The case will be mentioned on Friday.
