KERICHO; KENYA: Kericho town is set for a major facelift after World Bank released Sh40 million as part of the Sh93 million it pledged for street lighting, improving drainage system, rehabilitation of the garbage site among other amenities.  Speaking after a tour of the garbage site on Friday, the town’s administrator, Richard Mutai said they had received the first phase of the money from World Bank through its Kenya Municipal Councils Programmes project.

“The eyesore dumping site will be no more in three months. The town’s streets and its environs will soon have street lights, and we will improve the drainage system,” he said.  Mr Mutai also disclosed the town has another donor to help in solid and wastewater management. “We are going to create a conducive environment to attract local as well as foreign investors to make the county a model,” said Mutai.
