I did not test positive for Coronavirus — MP vows to take legal action after ‘damaging’ story

Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has dismissed claims that he tested positive for Coronavirus.

This is after a local publication claimed that 17 MPs had tested positive for the virus.

Speaking to Ureport, Amisi stated that he participated in voluntary testing for MPs and he was negative.

He further shared his results with us saying anything contrary to that is baseless.

“The information doing rounds is obviously not factual, alarmist and without any basis.

“While I have instructed my advocates to commence legal proceedings against gutter press, I urge Kenyans to focus on combating this hidden enemy without spreading false information,” he said.

The lawmaker emphasized that he has been adhering to the measures issued by the Ministry of Health and has been communicating the same to residents of his constituency.

Earlier, Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka said it was not easy to tell the status of members unless they came out to declare it themselves.

He also clarified that sittings had been suspended following the order by President Uhuru Kenyatta regarding cessation of movement.

“People should not spread uncalled for rumours. That was voluntary testing and the results are given to the person who has been tested.

“The person who knows whether anybody is positive or negative is the person who has been tested himself and the Ministry of Health,” said Lusaka.

Adding: “Anybody [else] talking about it is just a rumour. I can tell you I personally tested and I was negative.”
