I wish to encourage you all to extend your generosity and kindness – Governor Sonko’s Christmas Message

Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko on Sunday, December 22, 2019, called upon all Kenyans to share their excesses with the less fortunate.

Through his social media, Sonko asked Kenyans to give wholeheartedly in accordance with the depths of their pockets.

The Governor used Mother Teresa’s saying “It’s not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving” to cement his request.

“Watu wangu as we usher in this festive season to celebrate the birth of Christ Jesus, I wish to encourage you all to extend your generosity and kindness, however little, to your neighbours and community.”

Sonko also thanked the Good Deeds Day Foundation of Israel for appointing him the Good Deeds Day Ambassador for Kenya in 2018.

“I wish to sincerely appreciate the Good Deeds Day Foundation of Israel for appointing me as the Good Deeds Day Ambassador for Kenya last year, and the UN Volunteers alongside other organisations for awarding me as the Volunteer Champion of the Year 2019 on December 5th.”

The Governor was on Friday, December 6, 2019, arrested following orders by the Director of Public Prosecutions.

He was, however, released on a Sh15million bail by Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti.
