Ruto must be stopped — Details of letter sent to Uhuru on alleged elimination of the DP

On Monday, reports emerged that a number of Cabinet Secretaries had been holding meetings to plot the elimination of Deputy President William Ruto.

Those mentioned included Trade CS Peter Munya, Joe Mucheru (ICT), Sicily Kariuki (Health) and James Macharia (Transport).

Munya came out to strongly refute the claims and although he admitted that they had been meeting at the La Mada Hotel, he maintained that the discussions revolved around development.

“I would expect somebody in that office to do proper investigations. There are machineries to do that before making unsubstantiated and wild allegations of that nature.

“They are intended to make us look like criminals who meet to plot criminal activities against the DP. They are also meant to injure our reputation as law-abiding citizens of this country,” said Munya.

Online, a letter alleged to have been written to President Uhuru Kenyatta regarding the meeting has been doing rounds and it is claimed to have been drafted by one of his ‘loyal CSs’.

In the letter, the CS claims that he was summoned by Interior PS Karanja Kibicho to attend a meeting at La Mada hotel and some PSs from Mt Kenya region were also in attendance.

According to the letter, the agenda of the meeting was:

  • To shore up support for the President in Mt Kenya
  • The proposed referendum
  • Go on the offensive against DP Ruto

The CS seems to be distancing himself from the plot and maintains that he has never involved himself in politics.

“As a diligent and loyal public servant, I write to you to request to be exempted from these meetings.

“I do so because the PS said he had express instructions from you to have us take part and implement decisions arrived at,” reads the letter in part.

The DCI is yet to authenticate the letter although many have already questioned its validity.
