2019 University Ranking: UoN ranked best in East Africa, defeats Makerere

University of Nairobi (UoN) is the best institution for Higher Learning in East Africa according to the latest Webometrics ranking of world universities.
UoN was ranked number nine in Africa defeating Makerere University which was ranked eleven. UoN was also among top 1000 in the world after it was ranked 990 worldwide.
Public Universities

Private Universities
Strathmore University was ranked the top private university in Kenya and 4512 worldwide. United States International University came second and 6682 worldwide, Daystar University followed and was ranked 6940 worldwide and finally Mount Kenya University which was ranked 7811 worldwide.
Worldwide University Ranking
Harvard University has been ranked as the best university in the world yet again. Stanford University came second, followed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Oxford University and University of California Berkeley. http://www.webometrics.info/en/world
In Africa, the top five universities all came from South Africa. University of Cape Town was ranked the best in Africa and 272 worldwide, followed by University of Witwatersrand, University of Pretoria, Stellenbosch University and University of Kwazulu Natal.
