A man that Sonko was fighting to rescue his land from land grabbers dies as Sonko declares war on them

The owner of the Karen property that was invaded by goons two weeks ago Mr. Julius Kariuki Mungai has sadly passed on.Kariuki passed on Sunday after a short illness.

Sources said that the unlawful exercise of land grabbing affected mzee Mungai’s health leading to his death.

It alleged that Mungai’s effort to reclaim back his land has been in vain something that prompted him to seek help from Nairobi senator Mike Sonko.He was intimidated by the said land grabber.

Sonko said that although mzee Mungai has gone to be with the Lord he will see to it that the grabbed land is given back to the widow Lydia Wairimu, her two children, Edward Kiarie and Levina Wanjiku.

“I assure his family that I shall fight for your justice until you get back your property,” said Sonko

The late Kariuki and his wife acquired the Karen property legally in 2003. They've been paying land rates to the County Government ever since the property was transferred in their favour the latest payment being made on February this year

Nairobi senator mike Sonko managed to rescue the property after a long court battle and it will be reverted back to Kariuki’s family.

According to Sonko Karuiki’s land was by allegedly grabbed by a prominent lawyer who claimed the ownership of the same land.

He father said that the same person was also involved in another property tussle in Upper hill belonging to a 78-year-old widow.
 
“A prominent city lawyer has been alleging that he owns the same property under mysterious circumstances. This same lawyer is also involved in the grabbing of another property in Upperhill belonging to Mrs. Judith Njenga a 78year old widow,” said Sonko.

Sonko further said that cases of land grabbing have been rampant in Nairobi county leaving a number of people losing their hard earned property.

Over the last few years, Sonko has been able to reclaim properties worth hundreds of millions in Nairobi. The late Kariuki Mungai will be laid to rest at his Waithaka farm on Tuesday.
