Dismas Indiza leads the road to the 2020 Magical Kenya Open ranking with a total of 190.6 points after the fourth leg, of the 12-round series, played at the Entebbe Open last Saturday.

The Mumias-based golfer now returns to Uganda with 30 other compatriots for the Lake Serena Golf Resort Open Championship.

This will be the fifth leg of the tournament that will tee off tomorrow through to Saturday.

The golfers will be fighting for a share of Sh1 million prize money.

They will also gain points for entry into the Magical Kenya Open Championships slated for Karen Golf and Country Club from March 12-15 next year.

Muthaiga’s Greg Snow, who was the first leg winner at Nyali is second with 174 points.

Windsor’s Rizwan Charania is joint third with Thika’s Simon Ngige on 166.6 points each.

Others in the top 10 include Sigona’s Mohit Mediratta (129), Nyali’s Njuguna Ngugi (125.6) and Rift Valley’s Justus Madoya (116.5).

Madoya won the fourth leg at Entebbe Open with a decent total of 9-under par 275 gross.

This was Madoya’s maiden victory at the Safari Tour Golf Series with eight strokes better than the nearest player earning him Sh 167,000) and also picked up maximum points (50) on the road to the 2020 Magical Kenya Open ranking.

“I’m thrilled with the win and now look forward to the rest of the season with a boost of confidence. The fact that we have now had four different winners so far confirms that, indeed, the series has become very competitive.

“This is good for all involved as well as the fans and I believe that if we continue like this, the local contingent of players will be more competitive at next year’s Kenya Open,” said Madoya. [Maarufu Mohamed]
