A 38-year-old man is being held at Bahati police station for stabbing his wife with a knife to death at Engashura village, Bahati District.

Julius Kamau is said to have gone back home from a drinking spree at wee hours yesterday and attacked his wife who was asleep.

According to his brother Samson Mugo, Mr Kamau left his house around midnight for a drinking spree and came back home at around 3am. He then attacked his 30-year-old wife without a clear reason.

“My brother left here at around 12am and came back annoyed and stabbed his wife on the chest using a knife though he did not tell anyone if they had any family dispute,” said Mugo.

Mugo said the deceased tried fleeing from the house but Kamau kept following her with a panga and threatened to attack anyone who tried to help her.

“Njoki came to my house bleeding excessively after being stabbed on the chest but I was unable to help because my brother threatened to attack anyone who listened to her,” he said.

Bahati Constituency MP Kimani Ngunjiri who visited the homestead of the deceased, blamed the incident on rampant consumption of illicit brews in the area.
