Some clerics will not see heaven, thanks to graft

Someone must have rigged us out. We surely deserve better than this. Number four is not good enough. Someone probe the methodology used by Transparency International to rank Kenya number four on the global corruption index!

The effort that we have made in the past one year was enough to put us in the unenviable number one. And the police shouldn’t take all the credit this time.

The clergy are slowly stealing the thunder.

A report on corruption in churches published in The Standard’s Xtra magazine on Wednesday exposed the extent of the rot. Some (prosperity) preachers will charge you up to Sh600 for a prayer or even handshake. Nothing’s for free.

But the rot runs much deeper. Did you hear about the preacher who was busted recently advising a woman to sleep with him, and pay him as well, as a way of spiriting away her evil spirits?

If men of God can ask for cash and sex bribes, what about the witch doctors, teachers, lawyers, judges, journalists, politicians, hawkers and hookers? Transparency International should do us justice and declare the obvious:  We are the winners!
