Police in Embu County are investigating the death of an 80-year-old man who was found dead at his place of work.

David Mulonzi Mulembe, 82, was working as a security guard with Dimospa Security Services in Embu and was attached to the Department of the Vocational and Technical Training Centre at the time of his death.

Embu West Sub-county Police Commander Nick Kipkorir said the old man was found dead the following morning at a toilet that he had turned to a sleeping room.

"The body was taken to Embu Level Five Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue where a postmortem will be conducted on Tuesday to establish the cause of the death," said Kipkorir adding that police had launched investigations into his death.

Lucy Wawira, the wife of the deceased, said his 17-year-old son went to check on his father but failed to return the next morning as was the norm.

According to Lucy, her son found his father asleep and when he tried to wake him up he was not responding.

It is then that he called other relatives who informed the police.

Investigations into the cause of death are underway.
