Defending champions Ulinzi Starlets will begin their hunt to retain their FKF Women's Cup title with an away trip to play Gusii Starlets in the opening round of the 2023 competition in the draws announced on Thursday by the federation.
The round of 32 matchups that will take center stage on March 18-19 where the Soldiers who floored Vihiga Queens (2-1) in October 2021 to win the inaugural cup will travel to face FKF Women Division One Zone B side Gusii Starlets in Kisii.
The draw format for the competition getting in its second edition involved 10 FKF Premier Women League clubs, 16 from Division One and six from the County leagues.
Division One clubs include Kibera Soccer Ladies, Falling Waters Barcelona, Mombasa Olympics, Sunderland Samba, Soccer Sisters, Eldoret Falcons, Kisped Queens, Bungoma Queens, Gideon Starlets and Royal Starlets.
Defending FKF Women Premier League champions Thika Queens will play Migori Educational Centre while 2021 CAF Women Champions League CECAFA Qualifiers Champions Vihiga Queens will travel to Ahero, Kisumu County, to face Kolwa Falcons.
Other matches will see Univewrsity of Eldoret welcome Eldoret Falcons, Coast Starlets take on Mombasa Olympic and Vikers Queens entertain Royal Starlets.
The round of 16 is set for April, the quarterfinals for May 20, 2023, and the semis for June 24, 2023. The winners will be crowned on July 2, 2023.
