United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Nairobi Senatorial Candidate Bishop Margaret Wanjiru has reiterated her stand on party politics.
She says she will not be influenced to go against integrity and Christian values in favor of her political affiliation.
In an interview on Spice FM (Situation Room) on Monday morning, Wanjiru promised to maintain her morals as a leader and a member of the clergy if she clinches the Senate seat in next week's polls.
"Even in my party (UDA), there are people I cannot vote for. They all know my stand, if someone has a questionable character or has zero service delivery track record, I Margaret Wanjiru cannot be part of their team," she said.
Wanjiru who will square it out with Azimio la Umoja One Coalition's candidate Edwin Sifuna, also lamented on the rampant corruption which has greatly affected service delivery in Nairobi County.
On the same, she vowed to play a key oversight role as a senator and hold the governor accountable in the county's operations.
According to her the previous administrations in Nairobi County failed as a result of exaggerated budgets and theft of public funds at the expense of service delivery to Nairobians.
"If elected, I will be in a position to summon the governor to explain their budgets. I strongly believe the budgets can be cut down and the revenue generation increased tremendously. It is doable if only we remain focused," the Nairobi senator hopeful stressed.
On April 9, she bowed out of the Nairobi gubernatorial race in favor of Senator Johnson Sakaja, a member of the Kenya Kwanza alliance.
If elected, Bishop Margaret has pledged to streamline and fast track the issuance of bursaries in the county by eradicating corruption which denies needy students an opportunity to get educated.
"I will push for the increase for bursaries, I also want to see some improvement in disbursement, meaning that bursaries are given out at the right time and not after children have been chased away from schools,"the former Starehe lawmaker added.
Other candidates from the William Ruto led Kenya Kwanza alliance who had expressed interest in the Nairobi senatorial seat include Karen Nyamu and gospel artist Roy Smith Mwita, popularly known as Rufftone.
The two later agreed to dropped their ambitions to back Johnson Sakaja, Bishop Margaret Wanjiru and Millicent Omanga for the county's governor, senator and woman representative seats respectively.
