Kenyan stars step out in style for 'Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story' premiere

We've come a long way from the May 2022 Fenty Beauty launch, where Kenyan celebs were called out for their fashion fails.

At the time, content creator Shorn Arwa went viral for her humorous criticism of local Influencers, who, according to her did not match up to their Nigerian counterparts who also attended a Fenty launch that month.

The funny content creator scathingly called out singer Nikita Kering, Maria star Yasmin Said, Youtuber Milly Chebby and even the beloved actress Sarah Hassan, among others.

Early this week, our favourite stars showed up and showed out, dressed to the nines for the launch of Netflix series, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. This time around, Kenyan influencers proved that they can step up their red-carpet game and impress with their fashion choices.

The event, which took place in Cape Town, South Africa saw notable socialites from Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria and Tanzania walk the red carpet in stunning outfits of the Georgian era theme.

Nigerian Blog Bella Naija reports that the six-part series is a prequel spin-off of Netflix's popular series "Bridgerton" and features a star-studded cast including Golda Rosheuvel, India Amarteifio, Adjoa Andoh, Arsema Thomas, Ruth Gemmell, Connie Jenkins-Greig, Hugh Sachs, Sam Clemmett, Michelle Fairley, Corey Mylchreest, Richard Cunningham, Tunji Kasim, Rob Maloney, Cyril Nri, Katie Brayben, Keir Charles and Freddie Dennis.

Kenyan socialites who attended the event include singer Nikita Kering, content creator Azziad Nasenya, actress Catherine Kamau, Joy Kendi and comedian Mammito Eunice.

Nikita stunned in a white body-hugging gown, complete with a cape and featuring an exposed midriff detail.

The Never Let You Go singer shared a clip showing off her look on Instagram, writing on the caption; "One step at a time in this journey of mine. I will get there. Thank you Cape Town."

Fans and colleagues praised the outfit as stunning and gorgeous as they showered her with compliments on the comments.

Joy Kendi also took to Instagram to show off her look, which was all black and fierce in every sense of the word.

Her gown featured a corset that accentuated her waist, and a flowy, see through train and sleeves. The outfit also included turban-style headgear that made it intriguing and unique.

She revealed on her post that the dress was designed by the popular Kenyan designer Yvonne Afrostreet.

"Royal treatment and swag with @netflixsa. Dressed all in black to meet Her Royal Highness Queen Charlotte," The Youtuber wrote.

The celebrated content creator Azziad Nasenya was a vision in a Georgian era gown of her own, dazzling in a white and pink dress complete with a cape.

She paired the look with furry, strappy heels, with the final resort leaving her looking like a real-life princess.

"And the reign begins." Azziad simply captioned her photo of the dress, and her 1.9 million Instagram followers showed her a lot of love for the well-put together look.

Mammito Eunice did not come to play either, as she too, stunned in a gown, hers a deep brown, off-the shoulder one with gold-coloured details.

Coupled with her short, beautifully gelled-down hair, Mammito channeled African royalty with her look.

Her jewellery included large drop golden hoop earrings and a statement gold bracelet.

The comedian revealed on her own social media post that her dress was from African Fabric and Design, while the jewellery was by Adele Dejak.

Catherine Kamau is known to dress the part, especially for red-carpet events, and she did not disappoint.

The actress, fondly called Kate Actress by her fans, wore a gorgeous cream and pink gown with detailed, puffy shoulders and a ballgown-style flowy design.

As she shared the look with her 2 million followers, she noted that the gown was by Neomi Ng'ang'a's Style By Neomi.

"I am extremely proud of us , I had the most amazing time with my East African squad. We brought the heat. Thank you @netflixsa @naijaonnetflix," the actress wrote on a group photo along with other celebs present at the event.
