Simple cleaning hack leaves filthy microwave gleaming without scrubbing

A microwave might be one of the handiest items in the kitchen, but it's one of the most annoying to clean.

The odd angles and small gaps make it incredibly time-consuming and tedious to tackle.

But not anymore as a woman has shared a simple hack for blitzing your microwave in no time at all.

The savvy cleaner, known on TikTok as @mama_mila_, regularly shares a variety of handy life hacks, but it's her microwave cleaning tip that has stunned viewers.

In a video that has been viewed more than 90,000 times on the social media platform, the woman can be seen showing what the microwave looks like before and after she tested the hack.

In a jug, the woman adds one cup of water to one teaspoon detergent and mixes well.

Then she pops the jug into her microwave and switches the setting to four minutes.

She then recommends leaving it to sit in the microwave for a further four minutes before opening the door.

Then with a cloth - which appears to be a microfiber material - she gently gives the microwave the once over.

In seconds you can see the dirt and grime slide right off.

Explaining the science behind the hack, she said: "The steam environment softens all the stubborn, baked-on food and makes it very easy to clean."

She was also keen to point out that since every microwave has a different wattage, you may need to adjust the time accordingly to suit yours.

Since being posted the video has received thousands of likes and dozens of comments from like-minded savvy cleaners, with one person commenting: "Wow thank you!!"

Another wrote: "Been doing this for years but I use a whole lemon instead!"

A third also added: "Ok loving all these cleaning tips."

"Omg I have the same microwave I gotta try this!" exclaimed a fourth.

This comes after Mrs Hinch fan reveals how you can easily unclog a drain using two cable ties.

After attaching two cable ties together she uses a pair of scissors to cut a few diagonal slits along both sides of the plastic.

She gives them a little twist to open up the incisions and feeds the plastic into the bath plug, moving it side to side a little.

And as she pulls it out, matted hair and other grime come with it.
