Six things you can do with overripe bananas

A banana a day will keep the doctors away. Indeed, because their natural sugars and potassium load are such a perfect balance for adopting a healthier lifestyle.

What do you do, however, if the pleasant yellow fruits begin being shriveled and blackish? Not to worry, you can escape throwing them and alternatively use them to come up with something amazing:

Make a smoothie

There's just so many bananas you can eat a go when whole. However, make it into a smoothie and you may drink a whole litre!

All you need are the overripe bananas, some yogurt, and any other fruit of your choice. The best part? You don't need to add any sugar as the bananas are super sweet.

Yummy pancakes

Banana pancakes are amazing. All you need is the mashed up bananas, some milk and a little flour. Cook as you would the normal pancakes and drizzle some honey or nutella when serving. These will melt in your mouth.

Banana bread and muffins

The smell from the oven when these are baking will make you adopt this as a daily breakfast option. Banana bread and muffins are easy to make, just as the normal cake batter, only that you'll have added mashed overripe bananas, and reduced on your sugar.

Make some ice cream or popsicles

For the hot days, be sure to make these treats. Whip some cream and egg yolks together then cook into a curd. Turn the heat of and mix with the mashed bananas, freeze and follow the ice cream specifications.  

For the popsicles, pour a blended mixture of the bananas and plain yogurt onto popsicle molds. Freeze and enjoy in a few hours.

Make some banana chips

You can slice these bananas into rounds and sprinkle some cinnamon then bake after a drizzle of butter on top. They'll turn out crunchy and amazing as a snack.

Healthy vegan brownies

Use overripe bananas, peanut butter, protein powder and cocoa powder. The bananas make these guilt-free brownies sweet and moist for the vegan lovers. Perfect treat for those days you need a sugar rush.

Make a banana punch

You can use the overripe bananas as a base of your punch. Just add in other blended fruit juices to the blended bananas and whiz together. Be sure to add in lots of lemon juice to prevent the punch from turning dark because of fast oxidation.
