The African girl child has lost a mentor in Ambassador Brenda Muntemba

 Zambian High Commissioner to Kenya Brenda Muntemba-Sichilembe. She succumbed to accident injuries 

Zambian High Commissioner to Kenya Brenda Muntemba-Sichilembe who was involved in a road accident along Mombasa-Nairobi Highway in February has passed on. The 49-year-old diplomat succumbed to injuries at Nairobi Hospital in ICU on Tuesday, March 19, 2019.

Ms. Muntemba was involved in an accident on February 26, 2019, in Machakos, alongside her Botswana counterpart, while traveling from a meeting at Maanzoni Lodge, Athi River. She suffered internal bleeding and was treated at Machakos Level 5 Hospital before being transferred to Nairobi Hospital where she was taken to the ICU.

She leaves behind a daughter, Lukundo Mirriam Nachilembe, and her husband of 12 years, Reverend Sulanji Andrew Sichilembe, just months after they celebrated what would be there their last anniversary in October last year at Nairobi’s Radisson Blu.

The couple got married on 27th October 2006 at Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Cross, Lusaka. Going by the numerous posts they shared on social media from time to time; the couple never shied from flaunting their love and sharing their happiness with the world.

Ms. Muntemba-Sichilembe was well known for her fight for women rights with her social media mainly dotted with posts empowering the girl child. She also wrote four motivational books. In one of the books, Retrospect, she inspires the girl-child to stand up to her challenges and reclaim her worth.

Before her appointment as Zambian High Commissioner to Kenya, she served as Chief Program Officer at UNESCO in Zambia. She also served as Zambia’s Southern Province Police Commissioner.
