A mother was raped by two men on a bus after they killed her two-week-old baby boy.
The horrific attack was witnessed by her three-year-old daughter, who hid in a corner of the bus and managed to escape in Greater Noida near Delhi, India on Tuesday.
She was later found near to her unconscious mother at the side of the road. The woman is receiving medical treatment .
Police said she was visiting her sister when the bus pulled into a station and the two men attacked her.
The two men have been arrested and charged with gang rape and culpable homicide.
A police spokesman said: "She reached Shishgarh on Monday evening. At the bus station, from where she was to catch a bus to Bareilly, where she met the two accused."
Another spokesman added: "Her child had been sick for some time and she went to visit her sister to meet a tantrik (a Buddhist healer).
"She was returning when she met the two accused at the bus station. She was allegedly raped inside the bus at the bus station. Later, she found her child dead."
The Times of India reported how the child tragically died when thrown on the ground by the attackers.
Women's Rights campaigner Abha Singh condemned the brutal rape and called for the men to be charged with murder.
She said: "UP (Uttar Pradesh) police has registered a case of gang rape 376-D and also under 304 that is culpable homicide not amounting to murder where the punishment is maximum 10 years.
"In fact, on the rapist the charge of 301 IPC (Indian Penal Code) should be put why not murder where the imprisonment is life imprisonment because their intention was to rape the woman and kill her and in that intention her little child has died."
