In life, women are more of receivers than givers. That is why they expect a man to foot the bill when out on a date. They receive more favors and gifts than they give. I will not delve into the sociology and politics of what governs the giving and taking in our wretched earthly existence.
Today, I feel like telling women what they can do for the man that will make a difference in their relationships. Without further ado, here goes.
1. Behave your best if he finally introduces you to his kin
As Kenyans, we only introduce our girlfriends and fiancées during special occasions such as parties, funerals and other family get-togethers. So if this Christmas he asks you to accompany him to the village, behave. We appreciate it.
When you gel in with our folks, help them with household chores and generally get along with them. Show them why you deserve to be part of the family. Look at it as an interview and put your best foot forward.
2. Buy him a gift
When it comes to gifts, women are lousy givers. We will dwell more on this in the future. But today, I remind women spend on him. Buy him a gift worth more than Sh10,000 if you can afford.
Something that shakes your purse. Something that will make him think twice before he leaves you. And something he likes. Spend. Stop these miserly habits that we are so much used to. Surprise him.

3. Play to his demands
Lately, women have become rather democratic and don’t have to answer to our demands like our fathers did. It is a good thing, given the world has changed. But as men, we still entertain the idea of a submissive woman.
Not in a groveling way. In an obedient way. If we tell you to go home and leave us with the boys, play ball. If we ask you to do some cleaning and laundry, please do without much fuss.
As in, be the traditional wife and demand out of your man the traditional husband. Let him be. Don’t nag him. Give him some breathing space.
4. Cook for him
And by cooking, make sure he adds some kilos before ushering the January dryness. Cook a four or five-course dinner. All the knowledge you have about cooking, expend it on preparing him all manner of protein and starchy servings.
Eat together. If just the two of you, outdo yourself. Cooking for your man some good food is the best bonding you can have outside the bedroom.
5. Don’t ruin the vacation. Manage your moods.
If you have ever gone with a woman for an out-of-town vacation, you have probably come across one who ruins everything when you get to the end. You fly to Zanzibar and one indiscretion on the part of man and she is furious and livid through the vacation.
Listen, if we taking you on vacation, and we are paying for everything, the least you should is to play along. Make us happy. Otherwise, when your moods get in the way, it becomes a tragic. And can be hazardous for you.
