A city businessman has been accused of conning a Chinese man out of Sh3 million in a business deal where he was reportedly supposed to supply goat testicles and other animal organs.
Dennis Omondi reportedly obtained the money from Zhao Feng by false pretence on May 25.
The court heard that Omondi was to deliver 28 tonnes of assorted meat products, including goat testicles for shipment to Hong Kong through the Port of Mombasa.
Other products included cattle pizzles, cattle aorta, cattle tendons and sheep pizzles.
According to police records, Omondi had forged a letter indicating he was an authorized meat processor, and operations manager at Neema Livestock and Slaughtering Investment Ltd based in Nairobi’s Industrial Area.
The prosecution said Feng arrived in the country in May looking for business opportunities and met Omondi who made him believe he could deliver what he wanted.
It is alleged that Omondi asked Feng to deposit Sh10 million in his bank account before they could embark on the business.
They reportedly settled on Sh3 million which the Chinese man, through his brother, deposited in the accused’s account on June 25. Omondi is said to have promised to deliver the products immediately.
He reportedly started avoiding Feng who would later learn that Omondi never worked for the company he had mentioned.
Omondi denied the charges and was released on a Sh500,000 bail. The case is set to begin on April 7, 2016.
