Many people buy candles as an emergency measure in case of a power blackout. However, candles especially scented ones are the best décor accessories to create warm beauty in your home.

A little fragrance in a room does wonders to your home. When you walk into a room and smell something nice, it is most likely the fragrance of scented candles, burning incense, a spritz of room spray, or scented potpourri. Out of all these, candles stand out as they serve a dual role.

 Apart from lighting the room, they set the mood with colours and varying scents, and give warmth to the room. Blend colourful, sweet smelling candles throughout your decor to add beauty to every room of your home. 

So, how do you do this?

Focal points: It would be a good idea to create multi-dimensional focal points in the room. Candles come in varying shapes, sizes and heights.

 Arrange your candles of different heights and sizes to create dimensional focal points on a table, fireplace mantle, or anywhere the candles fit well. Start with the smallest to the largest in groups of three to five candles for an appealing display.

Enhancing other accessories:  Your other décor items including photos, knickknacks or paintings always come to life when a candle is placed near them. You may light up the candles in the evening to illuminate your favourite pieces.

Set the mood: Candles come in handy for those romantic moments — add votives around a bathtub or bedroom to set the mood. Use votive holders for your candles to burn longer. Multiple votives of the same or varying colours will create an elaborate setting. For holidays like Christmas, scented candles would be ideal to set the mood.

Crafty candles: If you love decorating with crafty stuff, candles can be a good source of inspiration since you can decorate plain ones as you wish. Coloured ribbons work very well in decorating candles. You can also pick some of your unique saucers, old lanterns or flowerpots as candleholders.
