Despite everything that is happening, the pandemic is not likely going anywhere anytime soon.

For many of us, our travel plans were put on hold due to rising cases of infection and new variants coming out of God knows where.

Could we be doing something wrong? Likely.

According to CDC and other health organizations, here are some of the precautions we should adhere to while traveling to stay safe.

1.Avoid crowded areas

Indoor spaces are a cesspool for the viral particles making it easy to get infected. If you must dine out during your travel, avoid indoor settings. Sit outside where there is fresh air and good circulation to avoid airborne spread.

Certain places such as beaches tend to attract large crowds and you may want to avoid those areas. Opt for private lakes and swimming pools if you really want to go for a swim.

Other outdoor activities such as camping make it much easier to isolate yourself from crowds.

2.Travel in small numbers

According to the “experts,” you are required to limit the number of passengers in a car so you can be apart as much as possible.

While in the vehicle you should wear a mask at all times and open the windows for proper ventilation especially if you have a thigh risk individual traveling with you.

At any given point you decide to stop over to fuel or get snacks, designate one person to make the runs. He or she needs to mask up at all times and keep their hands clean.

3.Assess your own health

You need to ask yourself certain questions before booking that flight to your holiday destination or to see relatives you haven’t seen for a while.

Find out if you have any health problems and whether you’re at a high risk of contracting the virus especially if you have a low immune system.

In such instances, you are better placed to drive to an isolated area to limit contact with other people if you want to go for a short holiday.

4.Observe hygiene

If you are flying, chances are, you will come into contact with so many people and surfaces. At one point there is a door you must open, luggage handles and when you get hungry you will grab a snack from a café.

For this reason, you may want to keep your sanitizer close. Get one that is organic if possible or one with a high alcohol content. You also want to keep your hands washed every time you visit the washroom.

And one more thing, try as much as you can to keep your hands off your face. Ridiculous, I know, but the virus can get to your body through with any of your mucous membranes like in your nose and mouth.
