Meghan Markle and son Archie spoke with the Queen ahead of Prince Philip's funeral, a royal source has claimed.

The Duchess of Sussex did not travel to the service, held at Windsor Castle on Saturday, because she is heavily pregnant.

But it has been reported the former actress made sure to get in touch with husband Prince Harry and the monarch beforehand.

The Duke of Sussex has now returned home to California to be with Meghan and little Archie after a stint in Britain.

It has been claimed that Harry jetted off without resolving a royal row involving his father Prince Charles and brother Prince William.

According to an insider quoted by PEOPLE, Meghan spoke to her spouse "every day" while he was away, including before the funeral.

The source said: "[Harry] didn't want to leave Meghan and Archie alone.

"Meghan has insisted to him every day though that they are fine. She hasn't wanted him to worry."

And they added: "Meghan and Archie also spoke with the Queen earlier this week."

Harry previously told entertainer James Corden that the monarch and his late grandfather used Zoom to communicate with his family.

The Duke of Edinburgh was laid to rest in St George's Chapel after he passed away earlier this month aged 99.

And although she could not be there in person, Meghan gave Harry a handwritten note to place on her late father-in-law's wreath.

The funeral marked the first time Harry and William met in person for around a year, after the fallout from 'Megxit'.

Much of the focus was on how the brothers would interact, with cousin Peter Phillips separating them in the column behind the coffin.

Harry and William were seen talking after the ceremony, with the latter's wife, Kate Middleton, also present.

It has been claimed the pair then spent two hours talking together with their father Prince Charles.

But Harry reportedly left Britain today - on the Queen's birthday - without speaking to the Prince of Wales alone.

One palace insider told The Mirror that the heir to the throne was hoping to see his son again but Harry told him he wasn’t sticking around.

After saying their emotional goodbye to Prince Philip, the trio reportedly went to Frogmore Cottage to "hammer things out".
