Commonly referred to as a millennials and Gen Zers move, on-line dating was previously thought as unequal to face-to-face dating. With coronavirus limiting movement due to the set lockdowns in different places, everyone is on the bandwagon, thinking how best they can date. This is primarily because humans crave connection. The easiest way to kill the boredom and loneliness therefore as a single has to be through online dating. So why is there a sudden climb in the download of dating apps all over? Dating as well as video calling apps are becoming the new normal. Here's why.

More conversation as sex is off the table

We seem to have been taken back to the old times when courtship involved no touch until you tied the knot. Lately, with the social distancing rules, you can't meet up with someone as soon as you'd like. This means that people can have better conversations as they don't have to meet. Experts point out that the richer the conversations, the stronger a future marriage. Hence if the relationships metamorph, a wedding boom is a probability post-pandemic.

Due to lower cost of physical dates, it's preferable

Let's face it, when going for physical dates, denting your pockets is a possibility. You need to wear something impressive, spend on food or entry fees, uber costs and so many miscellaneous things. With this pandemic, online dating is providing a cheaper method of dating. You can date anyone across the globe without having to get a plane ticket for a date as you don't know when this lockdown will end. All you need is data plans and you're good to go. Better option.

Gives people a sense of connection amidst the pandemic

Noting that humans are social beings, you'll realize that people are getting to these online platforms as a way to connect. A research by Tinder indicates that people are making more conversations and lasting on the platform longer. To mean that since there's something common to talk about, people can openly share their challenges.

Virtual dates are the new normal

Using the video call platforms like Zoom and FaceTime, people can easily hold virtual dates. This shift in dating is where you prepare your own food and place, so does the one on the other end if you have a virtual date. Other apps like OkCupid actually have some games section where you can virtually do activities. Even Netflix is giving people options of sharing a movie at the same time, an interface to connect people as if you're watching a movie in the cinema. All this virtual experience makes on-line dating easy.

Coronavirus has really given many a different perspective to how life is. What remains constant is that we are humans craving connection and the virtual space is aiding that greatly. In case you shied away from online dating, this could be your chance
