Governor Sonko offers Sh100k bounty for mother who abandoned baby with rope on neck

Living

A helpless newborn baby was found dumped by a passer-by in Nairobi’s Eastlands on Sunday 10th March. The act of callousness was compounded by the fact that the mother had tied a rope tightly around the infant’s neck, propagating that the she had tried to strangle it before eventually dumping it.

The Good Samaritan rushed the baby to Mukuru kwa Reuben Maternity Hospital where first aid was done on the baby and the rope removed.

The baby has since been moved to Mama Lucy Hospital with his condition yet to get better.

Clearly infuriated, Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko took to social media to share his sentiments after the incident issuing a stern warning to mothers who dump their babies terming such acts as cruel and evil and that they will no longer be tolerated in Nairobi.

In condemning the act, the Governor shared that the matter has been reported at Mukuru kwa Reuben Police Post and he offered a reward of Sh.100, 000 to anyone with information that can help the police in getting the person behind the heinous act.

“…I wish instead of doing this to an innocent angel the mother had come reached out to well-wishers for help in raising him (sic). Let's pray for the baby to survive and live to achieve the purpose for which God created him.” The Governor added.
