The holidays are here and it is the season to experiment with shimmer and sparkles. To achieve the perfect party face, you need to start with healthy skin.
Try to eat healthy on most days and keep yourself hydrated. Limit your intake of alcohol and ensure that you have enough sleep. Exfoliate your skin with bicarbonate of soda at least once a week to get rid of dry, dead skin. Follow up with a hydrating mask which will give your skin a youthful glow. Always moisturise, irrespective of your skin type.
Here are some party makeup tips that will keep you looking amazing:
1. Step 1 – Prime your face
Use a primer to prepare your skin for makeup. A primer helps to smooth any fine lines and wrinkles, while absorbing excess oils, thereby leaving your skin matt.
2. Step 2 – Define brows
Use a dark brown pencil, not black.
3. Step 3 – Conceal
Apply a light concealer on the entire eyelid and below the eyes if needed. This will also act as a primer.
4. Step 4 – Eye shadow
Apply a light shadow from lash line to brow. Follow up with a dark brown shadow on the crease area, as this will add natural definition. Apply a bright glittery colour on the lid, as sparkles or glitter will make your face pop.
5. Step 5 – Eyeliner
Line the entire top lash line, don’t line halfway. Gel or liquid liner is ideal for the top lash as it’s long-wearing and will not fade. Line the bottom lash line with a pencil and make sure that the top and bottom lines meet at the outer corner.
6. Step 6 - Mascara
Apply at least two coats of mascara, and up to six coats. The trick with mascara is layering. Saray shop at Two Rivers Mall has an amazing mascara that gives you a full, dense lash that looks like you’re wearing false eyelashes.
7. Step 7 – Perfect base
Dot some foundation all over your face and blend with a beauty blender or blending brush. Follow with a dusting of luminous silk compact powder.
8. Step 8 – Blush
Blush gives you an instant face lift. Use a fluffy brush to apply a light coat of colour on the apple of your cheeks.
9. Step 9 - Lips
Bring out your eyes or your lips. You can’t have both a bold lip and bold eye as your face will look overdone. However, gold is a neutral colour which can be paired with most colours. Line your lips first and apply a similar colour of lipstick or gloss.
10. Step 10 – Highlight
In a map sequence, apply a little highlighter below your chin, above your brows, along the bridge of your nose, above your lips, and above your cheek bones. Blend it in. Highlighter will give you a glowing, dewey look.
You can set your makeup with a setting spray and enjoy the party!
