Why you should reconsider dating a ‘sponsor’ and date from your age group instead

‘Sponsorship’ has been with us since time immemorial. Only that in the past, you did not choose which sponsor to settle down with, the sponsors used to do the booking from your parents the parents would book the ‘sponsor’ for you. You would then be married off to him when you became of age. However, times have changed and we now have the choice to choose whom you want to date and /or settle down with.

Of late, the ‘sponsorship’ bug is biting really hard… seems like it’s the way to go among young women. But hold on, is it really? Let’s find out

Dating a significantly older man has its vast advantages but as there are two sides of a trophy, it has its negatives. Unlike a guy in your age group, an older man has had more lovers.

This means that an older man has more experience in relationships and this could dangerous in the sense that he could be carrying a lot of emotional baggage. He may, therefore, have a bitter and biased point of view when it comes to women.

Secondly, an older man may not share and have time for all your interests. Remember this is a guy who has had a whole life before you and may not fancy your free time activities.

While a younger man wouldn’t mind going out with you and partying the whole night, a sponsor may view this as childish.

A young guy is a bit flexible when it comes to life changes hence you can try out new things together. On the other hand, a sponsor is bound to have an established and well-organized routine that has worked for him for years, and altering this is no walk in the park. It is you to learn to adapt alone.

An older man has no time of making mistakes and learning from them with you. He is past this stage. But for a younger guy, it’s more adventurous and therefore you can try new experiences together make mistakes, make fun and learn together.

Unlike young guys, older men can be controlling. If you are dating an older man, be sure he will come with the ‘I know better than you, I am more experienced than you are, I have achieved more than you have and you are just young’ attitude. This ends up looking like he is ‘fathering’ you. It’s not a sexy thing.

This goes without saying… you will receive so much ridicule. If you get involved in a relationship with an older man, you will probably have to contend with prejudice from other people. People may view as nothing as a gold-digger and view your old lover as an old pervert who just wants young blood to satisfy his sexual needs.
