Living room
Table lamps add sophisticated elegance to any living room. Traditionally, a table lamp goes on an end table flanking either side of the longest couch. You can also opt to use a table lamp on one side of the couch only as opposed to two sides. When working with a pair of accent chairs, position an end table between the two chairs and place your lamp on the end table. If you have a console table behind your couch, add a table lamp or two as part of the decor. Another spot to use a table lamp in the living room would be on top of a credenza (a sideboard cupboard), a console or a study desk.
Hallways
Hallways can be transformed into glamorous spaces with some extra lighting. Use your table lamp to decorate a console table top in your hallway. If your console is more than 3 feet long you can have two table lamps on it, allowing a distance of at least 2.5 feet between the two lamps. Should you use one table lamp only, balance out the opposite end of the console with an object that is almost similar in height to your lamp.
