My bestie and boyfriend are too ‘intimate’

I am concerned that my best friend and my boyfriend have become unusually close. At first, I was thrilled that they were getting along so well, but I am beginning to suspect there is more to it. My best friend also happens to be my housemate and of late, my boyfriend has been popping over our place even when I am not around. I come home from work and I find them hanging out in the house. They are not exactly doing it behind my back, but it makes me very uncomfortable that they are hanging out without me. I don’t think they are sleeping together, but I feel like it’s just a matter of time. Please advise. Charlotte.

Hi Charlotte,

I believe you know the two well.  Are they capable of betraying you? Your boyfriend and your best friend are the two people you should be able to trust in the world.

Unless you have a valid reason to be concerned, I suggest you don’t bring up the matter with either of them, because you will just end up creating an awkward situation.

You don’t want to come across as the crazy, insecure girlfriend. It is natural to be jealous that your best friend seems to have found some common ground with your boyfriend.

May be you are feeling a little left out. But don’t let that jealousy ruin a relationship that has taken a lot of time to build.

However, you should be on the lookout if the two start flirting. If you notice something suspicious, talk to them.

Let them know that they are making you feel uncomfortable. If they really have your best interest at heart (and they should), they will stop.
