Face masks are a necessary part of your skincare routine, if you want your skin to look its best. They are easy to use, inexpensive, readily available, and the results are quick.

Rather than waiting for a special occasion to use a face mask, incorporate them into your weekly beauty routine, for glowing, cleansed skin. Here are seven amazing two-ingredient masks for every skin type.

1. Avocado dry skin mask — mash a piece of a very ripe avocado with one teaspoon of honey and apply on clean skin. Wash it off after 15 minutes. This mask is excellent for dry or mature skin as it hydrates the skin leaving it moisturized.

2. Acne clay mask —— one of my favourite masks as it really cleans the skin, leaving it soft and glowing. If you have blackheads or whiteheads, you'll notice that this mask gently draws them out. It gets rid of toxins, unclogs pores, and heals your skin.

Mix one teaspoon of any clay such as bentonite clay, with one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. Apply on cleansed dry skin and wash off after 20 minutes. If you have sensitive skin wash it off after 10 minutes. Remember to avoid metal when mixing the ingredients.

3. Brightening turmeric mask — the original bridal brightening mask. When using turmeric, ensure that you protect your clothing to avoid staining. However, turmeric doesn't stain your skin. Mix one teaspoon of turmeric with one teaspoon of plain yogurt or cream, or a little milk. Slather it on clean skin, scrub gently, and let it dry for 15 – 20 minutes before you wash it off.

4. Exfoliating bicarbonate of soda mask — Mix one teaspoon of bicarbonate of Soda with half a teaspoon of honey. Massage onto your cleansed face and neck for a minute and wash off after 10minutes. Pat your skin dry and moisturize.

This mask is suitable for all skin types. Honey tightens the pores and hydrates the skin, while bicarbonate of Soda acts as an excellent exfoliant. It removes dead skin cells, whiteheads, excess oils, and improves circulation, thereby brightening the skin.

5. Pore shrinking egg-white mask — Combine one egg white with one teaspoon of lemon juice and whip until frothy. Apply on clean skin and allow to dry completely. Rinse with warm water after approximately 20 minutes. This mask balances the skin by absorbing excess oils and minimizing the appearance of pores. It also reduces the appearance of acne scars.

6. Detoxifying coffee mask — Mix a teaspoon of coffee powder with a little olive oil. Massage onto clean skin and wash off after 5 – 10 minutes. Coffee increases blood circulation to the skin and helps to minimize the appearance of dark circles and eye bags.

7. Clear skin lemon mask — It clears the skin by minimizing the appearance of acne scars and pigmentation. Mix two parts honey to one part lemon juice and apply on the skin. Rinse off after 5 – 10 minutes.

The lemon brightens the skin, while honey moisturizes. For best results, use this mask in the evening, as lemon increases the skin's sensitivity to the sun.
